The port can handle up to 7.5 million tns of cargo a year, the number includes 1 million t of dry cargo. The port handles lighter carriers, Ro-Ro vessels, dry cargo ships up to 10,000–25,000 tns capacity.

There is a possibility for further loading on the roadstead by lighters, ship’s cranes or floating cranes.

The port is equipped with modern facilities and cargo handling machinery and devices for andling the following cargoes:

  • rolled metal products: up to 300,000 t. per yr;
  • mineral fertilizers: up to 100,000 t. p. yr;
  • clay: up to 350,000 t. p. yr;

The port’s land territory covers 13.44 hectares.

There are 2 cargo areas in the port. One is designed to handle dry cargoes, the other handles oil and petroleum products.

Cargo operations with dry cargo vessels are done at berths Nos. 1, 2, 3, 14 and 15 which are equipped with port cranes, railway access lines. General and bulk cargoes are handled at these berths. There is cargo area to handle conteiners. Passenger operations are operated at berth No. 15.

The north berth with depths up to 13.5 m can admit tankers of 80,000 dwt, with draft up to 12.5 m. the south berth can admit tankers up to 80,000 dwt, with draft up to 11.3 m. Both berths operate crude oil and light petroleum products transfer.

They can both work simultaneously and in different direction. Loading/discharge operation capacity is 1,500 tns per hour, the figure is planned to be increased up to 2,200 tns per hour. Monthly transfer of liquid cargo is about 500,000 tns.

The port has two metal underground hopper for bulk cargo, its capacity is 90 and 120 cu. m.

The hoppers largely increase the loading rate of bulk cargoes.

The port has an oil pier for dark petroleum products, where it admit tankers of 5,000 dwt and with 5 m draft.

The Port has sheltered warehouses (total area 2,520 sq. m) and open storage spaces (total area 10,100 sq. m).
